Hows that then? Are you saying that only desert dwelling folk are allowed to hump a camel if they so desire?

Yes, you're right here, UndeadRoadkill. I had in mind european/american guilds. You definitly got a point, however I still believe a EU/US guild using this symbol are most likely refering to the nazi symbol.

But yeah, again you're right: let's not forget cultural difference, especially when we talk about this.

If you were talking about me, my guild is DVDF.

It does seem odd tho, that characters are given the option to rename if offensive but Guild's are'nt.

think it through.

what if by a miracle they went to and won the championship under one of those names.

that would get much more views than just in game.

That's exactly what I'm saying. And only jews are allowed to horde money, and only black people are allowed to enjoy watermelon.

TPG is fine with me, but the other two (given the meaning of the 1st one) deserve the ban.

Oh will all of the people that are doing it PLEASE Shut Up about Nazis...That comparison is basically just yet another Western stereotype.

The Swastika was included in the non-english langauge sets because its a legitimate symbol. Just because one country that plays the game has an unfair and undereducated prejudice against the use of the symbol doesn't mean it shouldn't be included.

WTF are you talking about. That symbol has mental and political baggage that would NOT float well in MANY countries.

If Anet want's a lawsuit, then sure add it. But if they want to keep making Guild Wars games then it is NOT in their best interest to add the Swastika.

So you leave out the "crazy" and its ok?(lol..j/k) I am Iranian, and have been called much worse than that with or without the crazy in it. IMHO, this was too harsh on these poor guys. I agree with the other poster about any kind of anti-semetic label, yes thats a very volatile subject, and should be dealt with accordingly, but common, Crazy Camel Humper..now thats just funny..I dun care who you are..its funny.(said with the cable guy voice)

BTW, I am one of the afore mentioned humpers by ethnic backround, and it doesn't hurt my feelings at all or offend me.

Sincerely Yours,

A Towel Head.

There's all this talk about Swastikas in this thread, but it's already been addressed in another and probably several others. I've seen it and it's not even a Nazi Swastika, though it does resemble one. It's a Korean character and is used by a Korean guild. Anet does not have Nazi Swastikas as an option for Guild tags in any language.

Crazy Camel Humpers and The Terrorist one I can understand, and I think it was right for them to close it.

Trojan Protection Guild... Didn't need to be closed. They could easily have been talking about 'Trojan' as in 'The Trojan Horse' from the battle of Troy in Odysseus.

Also, would like to add, if camels could read, they are the ones being bashed here..I mean common, they are sitting around thinking to themselves, "HMM..whats so wrong with adoring me?"

When the guild crazy camel humpers was created not a single one of us even had a clue as to the racist terminology behind this name. The guild was created as a joke, i dunno to make people laugh when the message came up in halls etc and we know that worked for alot of people, we only even found out of the term when we googled our name after we were banned. Thus bringing up some links which were rather disturbing, would just like to appologise to anyone who was offended by the name.

Thanks ~ Wipe

I apologize, but the consequences of letting these threads run their course, ie, the flaming of people with different opinions (basically, the war between people who find terms offensive, and those who don't), far outweight the benefits - none.

Anet is the one who banned the guilds, and only Anet can revoke them. If you have concerns, or wish to express your disagreement with their decisions, then send them support tickets;

http://support.plaync.com/
http://eu.guildwars.com/support/

You can have friends voice their opinions as well.

But here on the forums, there's little to nothing the player base can do for you, and a lot they shouldn't do, but do anyway. Every single topic about this kind of thing since the BWE's has broken into flaming.

As for a guild renaming feature (even if only used when the guild is sent into limbo), that's a different matter.
